OUR PHILOSOPHY
    A FEW WORDS ABOUT US

We promote a safe and healthy atmosphere where
cooperative learning and personal growth can flourish.

Visitors are always welcome to either watch or
participate. If you wish to participate just wear
something comfortable such as sweat pants and a
t-shirt. All that is required is a signed release form
and a good attitude before stepping on the mat.

At Autumn Wind Dojo we offer
    instruction in the  Japanese Martial
Arts of Judo, Aikido, and Jodo.

Please tour our site and if you have
any questions, contact us at the email

    JUDO

In 1882 Jigoro Kano founded the martial art of Kodokan Judo.  Judo utilizes
Throws, armbars, grappling, and chokes to neutralize an attack.  Since its
inception, Judo has gained a following that makes it the most practiced
martial art in the world.  Judo means the gentle way.  We strive to
accommodate both the martial artist and competitive player with emphasis
on self improvement and cooperative learning.
    AIKIDO

Aikido means divine way of harmony.  It is a martial art that utilizes throws,
takedowns, and armlocks in execution of its methods.  We practice
Tomiki-ryu style Aikido as taught by Shihan Karl Geis.  As such, we follow
a  non-competitive approach unlike other Tomiki-ryu schools.  Due to the
nature of the training we require the student be at least fourteen before
    beginning Aikido.

    JODO

Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo is a staff art that focuses on the use of the jo (short
staff) against the sword. Our program requires that the student be at least
fourteen and a Yonkyu (green belt) in Aikido. Here at Autumn Wind Dojo
we follow the Seitei no Kata which encompass twelve basic strikes and
twelve katas as taught by Tsunako Miyake.Safety is paramount when
practicing, therefore there is no free practice or competition conducted in
this martial art. Instead the student internalizes the techniques through
repetition. In fact, we follow Musashi's philosophy that the slower you go
    the faster you learn.
